GRPD: Three more unarmed robberies

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Grand Rapids police say three unarmed robberies from Sunday are "likely connected" to similar recent thefts in the area.
Police told 24 Hour News 8 one of the latest crimes occurred around 9 p.m. Sunday at the Shell gas station near Monroe Avenue and Ann Street NW. Police said someone pretended to be a customer and waited until the clerk opened the register to steal some cash. The robber then fled the scene.
Lt. Schnurstein said similar robberies happened Sunday at the Family Dollar on Leonard Street and the Bridge Street Superwash.
There have been numerous other robberies in the county this month.
Early Sunday morning, an Admiral gas station in Walker was robbed with the same similarities, police said. The suspect grabbed money from an open register and ran. He also took some cigarettes.
Last week, police released surveillance photos from similar robberies, including one on Oct. 11 at a 7-11 store on Alpine Avenue and Oct. 13 at a Walgreens store on Leonard Street near Alpine Avenue.
