SYNOPSIS It's going to feel like mid-Summer across West Michigan, as windy, warm and humid conditions surge into the region. Afternoon highs will climb into the 80s. Occasional showers and thunderstorms are possible at times, over the next couple of days. One batch of storms is tracking to our north this morning, then it will be dry for a good portion of the day.. There is a chance of another cluster of showers and thunderstorms in the mid-late afternoon. It will again be breezy today and even a couple degrees warmer with highs in the low-mid 80s. It will be significantly cooler (65-70) at the Lake Michigan beaches.

West Michigan is included in the SLIGHT RISK AREA for Severe Thunderstorms today and tonight, as there will be the potential for thunderstorms to reach severe criteria.

Morning showers and thunderstorms will linger Friday morning, especially from Grand Rapids to the south. By Friday afternoon, dry air will work in from north to south, with highs slipping into the 70s.

Looking ahead: the weekend will be dry and pleasant! A mixture of clouds and sunshine will fill our skies, with highs in the low 70s.

Even cooler air settles into the region for next week, with highs slipping back into the 60s.

April ended cooler than March for the first time since 1907 (and by 2.4 degrees!), but April was still slightly (+0.3 degree) warmer than an average April in G.R. (April was a touch cooler than average in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Lansing and Jackson). We had 10 days reach 70 degrees in March and only one day in April.
